Selon le voeu
Toulouse, Basilique Saint Sernin, septembre 2012
From the vow
A picturesque object, representing the city of Toulouse, carried out in 1528 to call for the protection from the 1528 plague. One can notice that the coat of arms is slightly different from the one we know now: notice the cross itself and the building facing the Narbonnais castle which is not the basilica itself.

Mutation
Tournefeuille, 16 janvier 2013
Mutation
If it is rice which grows under water in China or close to Sacramento, California, then here in Tournefeuille it’s the vine…

Les puces
Toulouse, janvier 2013
Bazaar
Yesterday in the comments section following the post about Saint Sernin Alain was asking if the flea market was still going on on Sunday mornings as it was during his student years.
Yes Alain and one can find almost anything.
I seize the opportunity to wish Olivier a swift recovery.

Saturnin
Toulouse, janvier 2013
Quelques faits :
A few facts:
To begin with the basilica was built during the 11th century, in honour of Saturnin († 202), first bishop of Toulouse, Sernin being the Occitan name for Saturnin. Then an abbey till 1790 and a stopping place on the way to Compostelle. This is the biggest roman church in the world still standing! It is made of bricks and stones, a lot of bricks because of the high price of stone.
Frescoes were discovered following interior restoration in the second half of the 20th century. I will add details relative to this edifice from time to time.
In the meantime I leave you with Saint Phebade, bishop of Agen in 345!

Entre le jour et la nuit
Tournefeuille, 2012
Between day and night
Dandelions close themselves at night and open in the morning or is it the other way round do they open in the morning to close at night?
Have you read Tanpopo by Yasunari Kawabata? It is an unfinished novel, slightly confusing but at the same time a captivating book.

Lifelessness?
It has not been easy to find the creator of all these nests… not a single name on the wall adjacent to the Space Art “Le Radar” closed at the time of my few visits to the area.
Art pieces made from synthetic materials and from dried herbs. Creations on the move.
Bayeux, 2012, Affiche : Manuela Tetrel, plasticienne
*If I got it right the author built these nests in situ and with materials that he founds around mixing them with dried herbs. He added some of the Bayeux purple to the nests. These installations are made to move on and redesigned in between with new elements for the next exhibit.

The river Garonne/ »Garona » in Occitan
It does not mean that the Garonne is dirty, the industrial pollution is rather low in Toulouse, I would rather say that the wind was blowing hard that day and pushed everything into a corner…
Toulouse, 2012
A view on Pont Saint Pierre and on Pont of the Amidonniers also called the Catalans’ Bridge. One works hard to keep the banks of the Garonne clean.

« Denise’ pullover »
A magical installation close to the Capitole in Toulouse, during the Holidays, organized by the "Compagnie sans gravité."
A combination of creative circus and new magic questioning the role of body gravity.
