If there is a gourmet restaurant close to the Montségur castle you are in the right place.

Capital of the Cathar Church
Montségur : a fortress built in 1245 by the lord of Mirepoix on the remains of a former castle destroyed after the surrender of Raymond de Péreille in 1244 during the Albigensian Crusade.

It takes about half an hour at a good pace to get to the remains of the Montségur castle at a final height of 1216 meters.

A little bit of history: at the time of surrender in 1244 a religious group of 200 cathars, refusing to give up its faith, comes down the mountain and is burned alive.

« If you are passing through here, you’ll be back »
Last views of Saint Lary : the river Bouigane and two typical doors. Most of the houses in Saint Lary are given names either a resident’s or a specific business’ one.

« If you are passing through here, you’ll be back » « Se pasas per aqui, y retornaras »
Wood, stones, slates, water define this little agricultural and touristic village of a hard working population of 150.

Sans but (11/16)

64 1
Seix, juin 2012

Seix, it is also walking through the village. I can imagine how one can feel in the winter time when it is snowing to drive along this narrow path.

Le blason est là pour rassurer :

"Soun de Seich, cap de paur "
« Je suis de Seix, je n'ai pas peur »

The coat of arms is here to reassure us:

"Soun de Seich, cap de paur "
I am from Seix, I am not afraid

Maison forte (10/16)

63 1 Seix, juin 2012

The fortified house from the 15th century, often remodeled  is currently being transformed inside into a center for interpretation of the local history of Haut-Couserans as well as of the local fauna and flora.
