Montségur : forteresse bâtie par le seigneur de Mirepoix en 1245 sur les vestiges d’un château antérieur détruit après la reddition de Raymond de Péreille en 1244 pendant la croisade des albigeois.

Montségur : a fortress built in 1245 by the lord of Mirepoix on the remains of a former castle destroyed after the surrender of Raymond de Péreille in 1244 during the Albigensian Crusade.

D’un bon pas il faut une demi-heure pour grimper et atteindre les vestiges de Montségur à 1216 mètres.

It takes about half an hour at a good pace to get to the remains of the Montségur castle at a final height of 1216 meters.

Petit côté historique : en 1244, au moment de la reddition, 200 religieux cathares refusant d’abjurer descendent de la montagne et montent sur le bucher…

A little bit of history: at the time of surrender in 1244 a religious group of 200 cathars, refusing to give up its faith, comes down the mountain and is burned alive.
